FOR ALL OUR SINS Paperbacks!

My editor, Clio Cornish, with the first few copies!

OK,  so the paperback isn’t out until October, but LOOK!

They arrived in the publisher’s office yesterday and I can’t wait to get my grubby hands on my copies 😀

My book is in fantastic company here…

These pictures came at the perfect time yesterday.  I’m now editing the first draft of book 3 (which will be having a new title – more on that soon!), before it goes off to my editor and the nagging doubts have crept in as my deadline looms.

If anyone ever thinks that the worries go away and that everything gets easier with the more books you write, you’re wrong! At least where I’m concerned anyway.

I’ll post more of an update when I can, but for now, I just had to share these pictures.

It makes all the early starts, late nights and days spent at the desk worth it all, just to see and hold a physical copy of your book – something you have poured your heart and soul into.

The HarperCollins Summer Party 2016

20160706_212947

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the HarperCollins Summer Party at the gorgeous V&A Museum, in London.

It was an amazing event and whilst being nervous, I am so glad I went. I got to chat to other authors, agents, and the wider team at HC, as well as catch up with the editors from the Carina imprint.

Authors L-R: Phaedra Patrick, me, BA Paris and AL Bird.

Beforehand, the HQ team (HQ is the newly formed imprint that merged previous Harlequin imprints such as MIRA etc) held pre-party drinks at the Rembrandt Hotel, opposite the V&A. We got the chance to raise a glass to the new imprint before heading over to the huge party across the road.

To be honest, everything was a blur. The venue was packed, the alcohol was flowing and the canapés were to die for (especially the desserts!). I got to meet some fantastic authors, and the teams from across the whole of HarperCollins. Many I have only ‘spoken’ to via social media, so it was lovely to meet these people properly.

I saw authors I have long admired and found ‘new voices’ I have yet to read, but whose books I will be adding to my (ever-growing!) to-be-read pile.

It was a fantastic evening and experience that I hope I might be lucky enough to repeat.

New contract – more books!

20160520_105011

Now that everything is ‘official’, I’m pleased to announce that I have signed another contract with Carina UK, (a digital first imprint of HarperCollins) for the next three books in the DCI Claire Winters series!

Book 3, Skin Deep, is shaping up nicely and is due to be released this autumn and I intend to start book 4, The Devil’s Letters, early August. Book 5 (currently untitled) will follow in the latter part of 2017/early 2018.

Skin Deep will be available for pre-order soon, but until then, The Principle of Evil is still at 99p  until the end of May on Amazon UK in their Kindle Monthly Deal. Grab your copy and make a great saving! 😀

Carina UK – #CrimeClub – THIS Friday

#CrimeClub copy

Join me on Twitter this Friday (UK time) at noon for Carina UK’s second Crime Club instalment.

I’ll be answering any questions you may have about the DCI Claire Winters series, writing in general, advice or anything else you might want to know that’s writing related!

I hope some of you will join me, and I look forward to answering any questions people have. Be sure to use the hashtag #CrimeClub, when sending your tweets.

It’s publication day!

The Principle of Evil is out today!

The Principle of Evil - 2016

Blurb –

A body has been found in a frozen lake, bringing a gruesome act of evil into the light.

One look at the victim is enough for DCI Claire Winters to recognise the work of a warped mind. And when another woman is reported missing, Claire’s worst fears are confirmed: this is a killer who plans to strike again.

As the body count rises, the pressure is on for Claire to find the perpetrator and bring them to justice. But first, she must learn to understand the twisted mind behind the crimes. And that will take her to a darker place than she ever thought possible.

The book has come a long way since I self-published it in 2013, and the changes made are for the better, I think. There are some new scenes, further character development and an unresolved issue with one character (that I had originally intended to reveal in book 3), has made it into the last edit of ‘Principle’.

I’ve also added a mini cliff-hanger at the end, that will be taken into the next book, so anyone who has read the older version of the novel might want to have a read of the newer version.

I’ll have another update on the series soon, but until then, ‘The Principle of Evil’, can be bought from all good e-retailers (Amazon UK, Amazon USA, for example).

No Kindle, or Kobo etc? Don’t forget, you can download the free apps to any tablet, iPhone, or Android device.

I’m celebrating pub-day with…more writing! 😀
